BACK TO RIDING AGAIN!!
Finally, I was able to get to my horse today and ride!! He was stiff, unyielding and grumpy but I had a great ride. After a few battles, he finally decided it was more pleasant to at least try and then we had a good go. To get him to listen to me, I did a lot of transitions from walk to trot to halt. This is an old trick but it works. Makes them listen to you as they can't figure out what the heck you are doing so they have to pay attention out of self preservation. The last 15 minues of the ride was some really nice trot work - then I gave him the reins, a lump of sugar, loosened his girth and he was done. Best daily exercise in the world!!
A Horse's View Of The World
I find horses so fascinating and they are often smarter than we realize. I have boarded in very large commercial stables, and one can walk down the aisle and it is obvious that all those horses have unique personalities, different expressions on the their faces and, like people, their eyes tell alot. It is with this in mind that my blog will often be from a horses point of view, at least as I see it.
