A Horse's View Of The World

I find horses so fascinating and they are often smarter than we realize. I have boarded in very large commercial stables, and one can walk down the aisle and it is obvious that all those horses have unique personalities, different expressions on the their faces and, like people, their eyes tell alot. It is with this in mind that my blog will often be from a horses point of view, at least as I see it.

GET IN OUT OF THE RAIN!!

I firmed up the plans today - I'm gettin' out of the rain and mud and Jango's going to learn some respect (I hope) and some new moves (I hope). I'm going to board at Meadowgate Equestrian Center - a great training barn. I have known these people for over 30 years, so I really feel at home there. I usually board somewhere in the winter - we have many nice boarding places in my area and each is unique in it's own way. The three I have used are Stanwood Equestrian Center - such nice people run this place - it is a huge boarding facility - all equestrian disciplines and really reasonable haul in arena rates. It is a very busy place with lots of stuff going on all the time. A great place to get a young horse used to handling lots of activity. Last time I was there it was open 24 hours a day, you could ride any time, just turn the lights out when you are done. It's a fun place. I have also boarded at Pacific Moon Equestrian Center. An absolutely top of the line boarding stable - mainly dressage and some hunter jumper. Nestled in a valley in the Cascade Foothills, it is a lovely, perfectly groomed place - a little bubbling fountain, flowers, trees, it's like a mini vacation when you board there. Very professional place, I just love it there. Meadowgate Equestrian is a very busy dressage facility with top notch trainers and a good variety of boarding possibilities. These people show and train and do it with excellence. If you've got goals, this is the place. This is where Jango and I are going. I want to learn more and Jango needs to get "re-introduced to respect and hard work". I am sure I will have to lunge him at least a half an hour before I get on him. He has not been ridden in about 3 weeks and he really thinks he is "HOT STUFF". My best friend boards at Meadowgate and she and I are looking forward to riding together for a few months. She is 80 years old and still riding dressage on a of the track TB, Stanley Steamer. Way to Go Rosie!!

Sounds like a wonderful facility. Tell Rosie I said "HI". You should tell Jango that Boot camp started for Sarge too, at least he's not the only one in need of an attitude adjustment. HAve a great time, I want to see progress pictures when you can get them. We took video of Sarge at his lesson on Saturday and I am just trying to get it on the computer but I will send it to you when I figure it out, HA! Have a great day!HS
