A Horse's View Of The World

I find horses so fascinating and they are often smarter than we realize. I have boarded in very large commercial stables, and one can walk down the aisle and it is obvious that all those horses have unique personalities, different expressions on the their faces and, like people, their eyes tell alot. It is with this in mind that my blog will often be from a horses point of view, at least as I see it.

SHE MEANS BUSINESS - I HAVE TO WORK!

I was not happy to see HER today. I know now that she is serious and I have to go to work. Work off my hocks!! YUK. I pinned my ears when I saw her, I pinned my ears in the crossties. Nipped at HER when she took my blanket off. I had made up my mind I was not going to do as she asked. When SHE started lungeing me, I would go really slow at the trot,s SHE would urge me on and then I would canter instead of trot faster. I kept throwing my head, looking for things to spook at. Again, I trotted really slow and SHE encouraged me to go more forward so I went into a canter again. OOOOPS, I MADE HER MAD!! So SHE said, you want to canter? fine, we will canter and canter and canter. And she meant canter forward, I was getting tired and SHE just kept pushing. FINALLY, she said TEEEROTTT and, I did, gratefully. So we did the other way. This was all done on a loose rein on the lunge line. Then SHE put on those wicked side reins, SHE said TEEEROTTT and I, like a fool, did a really slow trot pulling and pulling on the side reins. SHE asked me to go more forward, so I showed her and BUCKED INTO A CANTER - OUCH, SHE NAILED ME FOR THAT. So guess what, it was trot to canter, trot to canter, for toooo long. Then SHE did the other side. OOOOHHHHHHH SHEEESH SHE IS A TOUGH OLD BIRD. So then SHE got on - I thought, Hmmmm, maybe she is not so brave when she is up there. So SHE asked for a trot, I immediately threw my had up, hollowed my back and started looking for something to spook at. OUCH, she put the spurs to my sides, set the reins, and drove me right into a tight frame. So yup, you guessed it, walk to trot, walk to trot transitions for the next 15 minutes. I decided to soften and be a little more accommodating and then SHE halted me, got off, said "Good Boy" and put me away. I'lll have to think it over tonight, I know she is going to ride me tomorrow. I haven't made up my mind how I'm going to act. BUT I'M PRETTY SURE I KNOW HOW SHE IS GOING TO REACT.
