A Horse's View Of The World

I find horses so fascinating and they are often smarter than we realize. I have boarded in very large commercial stables, and one can walk down the aisle and it is obvious that all those horses have unique personalities, different expressions on the their faces and, like people, their eyes tell alot. It is with this in mind that my blog will often be from a horses point of view, at least as I see it.

WAS NICE TO HEAR FROM HEATHER & SARGE

Well, SHE (my owner) was happy today. She heard from Heather and Sarge (Koshari Flash) the horse that went to Heather in Illinois. Seems he is in school this winter, getting a bit of an attitude adjustment, just like me. SHE misses him, especially when she goes out on the back slope of her property at home at night - when she had him, he was so silvery white that he would shine, almost glow at night and when the moon was out he was spectacular. I have a white silvery coat, too, but she has never said that about me. Maybe I'm not as friendly as Sarge was - he would hang out with her - not me, when SHE comes out its dinner time so I'd head for the barn. I am being good at school, trying hard to do decent dressage - the head instructor was impressed how far along SHE (my owner) had brought me - made HER very happy. I did have a melt down when the GIANT GARBAGE TRUCK drove by the arena. THATS THE SCARIEST CRITTER I'VE EVER SEEN. I was on the lunge line and just flew straight out of the circle and started backing up. OH, NO, THE TERRIBLE BACKING UP THAT MAKES HER SOOOO MAD. Well, I had the side reins on the bridle when this happened, so I really smacked myself in the mouth
and when I started backing up, SHE yelled WHOA! and when I didn't stop backing she put her 120 pounds on that line and I STOPPED. Then we had a few short lessons on whoa, she gave me pats and a carrot and I was very good - even when THAT MONSTER GARBAGE TRUCK went back by the barn. So she is happy, and I am happy when she is happy, so all is good. Actual lessons start next week.
